The Loft

This bedroom with its own private entrance formed the hayloft above the old stable block and has a real sense of history and age.

The room is full of character which is emphasised by the impressive exposed A-frame, loft doors and beautiful English oak staircase.

The staircase tells its own story made from reclaimed oak from an old bridge using a number of carvings designed by the local school children to show the migration of the salmon.

The comfortable seating area overlooks the gardens and fells beyond, you can sit and relax, read a book or plan your days ahead.

The luxury en-suite bathroom has a beautiful tiled floor; large walk-in shower cubical, fluffy towels and luxury toiletries. Daily housekeeping is included in the rate.

The Stable

This bedroom was the old stable block, located on the ground floor of the barn attached to the main house.

It has its own private entrance and is perfectly suited for guests with less mobility.

The bespoke metal beds, exposed beams and stones create a contemporary yet traditional style.

The room has a luxury en-suite bathroom with a traditional slate floor, and all facilities. Daily housekeeping is included in the rate.

Bedroom 3

Located in the main house, it is a quirky room. The old exposed ship beams show the age of the building and adds a real character to this room.  The room overlooks the cobbled yard and traditional cobble barn.   Daily housekeeping is included in the rate.


Every bedroom has the following:

  • Dressing table including mirror, hairdryer, hair straightener mat, emergency pack (nail file, needle and thread etc)
  • Tea and coffee making facilities including homemade biscuits or cake
  • Fresh milk is available
  • Wall mounted 32” flat screen TV (Freestat)
  • Additional blanket and pillow
  • Programmed central heating
  • Bottled water
  • Wine glasses

Every bathroom has the following:

  • Power shower cubicle with temperature and pressure balanced twin head shower mixer control
  • Automatic thermostatic extract fan
  • Drinking tumblers
  • Dispensers of hand wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and hand & body lotion
  • Bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths
  • Heated separate radiator
  • Daily housekeeping is included in the rate.


Breakfast is served in the dining room from 7.30 to 8.30am.

We source our products locally to ensure they are of a high standard. 

We start with fresh fruit salad; yoghurt and cereals followed by a choice of traditional English breakfast of quality, locally sourced ingredients or a lighter choice of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.

We can cater for all dietary requirements including gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian.

Packed lunches are also available on request.


Because of our perfect location and our relaxed atmosphere, many guests settle into Longmoor Head as their base to discover the valley of Ennerdale as well as the beautiful western edge of the Lake District World Heritage site.

For Coast to Coast walkers the property is located at the bottom of the Cole Fell Road at the end of the first days walk.  At the bottom of the hill turn left walk 50 yards over the first cattle grid and we are on the right.  Look for the two large cobbles at the top of the lonning.  We are a 4 minute walk away from the village centre where you will find The Gather shop and cafe together with two local pubs.
